OMG! iPad...yeah it's expensive but it's an early b-day gift... ;0)

This thing is pretty cool...yeah it is borderline fad...but not if you love to draw...I got the iPad and bought the Autodesk Sketchbook Pro AP...and it is the awesome!!

I just wish the iPad was bigger (like a "for designers/artists" version/size) and worked a bit better for transferring what you do in sketchbook to my other programs like Photoshop.

But it is cheaper than the other versions of touch screen sketch tech (*cough*cintiq*cough*)...and it looks pretty sexy...lovin' the apple design language.

As I sit munching on my rice cake and sipping my tea enjoying the last few hours of my weekend...the impending doom of Monday looming around me...because I'm not exactly working a day job that I love...but I figure that cable and car insurance aren't free so it's a forced occupation...just kinda sucks...people say it's a "sign of the times" a wee tired of that saying...but it's pretty cool that you can find a sort of solace in doing the the lil' things you love...like for me making plush toys, sipping tea, and enjoying rice cakes...yeah there not the greatest things to do in life but I think I'm tired of trying to be so noble and grand...that's to much shit to worry about for a Sunday night anyway ;0)

Ohhhh MAD MEN is on....bye...

STUFFED in print

Yaaaay...Iggos Sparky and Bolt Robots are in Stuffed mag....WOOOOOHOOOOO!
These guys were created when I was thinkin' about my gran-uncle on a dull chilly day with some Crayola markers and a sketch pad...the very first one made that I made was Goo...I made Goo out of an old green 1980's sweatshirt, pillow case, and a red 1990's skirt...then came Sparky...then Bolt...and here ya go....Bubbles and Bumpy were more streamlined versions of the originals.

Ugh...more snow...winter go away maaannn...

eh ah well took this time to watch some pretty sweet movies...rented The September issue and COCO before Chanel...fun stuffs...not much of a reviewer but I did enjoy both flicks....

I think I might be obsessed with September issue the most...because of the tension between Grace and Anna...made me giggle a bit...especially when Anna wants texture and Grace brings out a hot pink shirt/blouse with stuffed pink gloves sewn onto the shirt...it looks like the gloves are going to be groping the person wearing it...I would recommend this flick even if you aren't a die hard fashionista...but a person who does appreciate beautiful things...those amazing gowns had me drooling!

COCO before Chanel flick with Audry Tautou (she was in Amelie):
It was neat to see how COCO came into her own...bar singin', straw hat wearin' feisty woman...she wore her ovaries on the outside lol...always like to see where people/icons start out...it was edited to the hilt...wanted to see a bit more when she started her shop up...this flick was all about the dewds in her life...good movie.

^^ YUDU prints of my robot plushies ^^

Ahhh silk screening....oh boy...the whole process is fairly long winded even when you get used to it...I bought a YUDU I'm in love/hate with it because of the detail it can produce as far as screen printing thin lines/and detail go...but it does mess up...or I messed up heh....

The classic way that I was working on long into the early morning hours yesterday and today where you can hand cut out what you want the paint to go through was the toughest, but the screens are far more durable than the YUDU...I had to redo my spinosarus screen (the other fell and got a hole in it...the lil' thing at th top of muh blog)...it went well...what I noticed about the YUDU is that after a bunch of runs the lines aren't as crisp or entire sections come away and where you didn't want paint it makes it's way into your piece....and I'm using the liquid screen block that I purchased at DIY Tshirts....but I noticed if I use to little of the liquid screen block and make a thin coat with it it will deteriorate a lot faster than a thick coat(but to thick and you get air bubbles which paint can get through)...and if I do not use hot water to clean the paint off the screens tend to last a little longer...yeah learned the hard way on that one hot water likes melt and peel the liquid screen away...

So I guess with my stumbling through both processes it takes awhile to get used to the little ticks that screen printing can present in both the photo emulsion and the old cut 'n' paste by hand way...both results are worth the growing pains though ;0)
